About

about me

I’m a 24 year old front end web designer and developer living in Charm City (Baltimore), Maryland. I work at Just Health Shops by day and save the world by night. My name is Clark after all.

Other than being a super hero, I make time for the important things in life. I like to read on my kindle – visit my Library to see my favorite & current books. I like to travel – I just went to Philly for my girlfriend’s birthday. I even ran up the same art museum stairs as rocky did in his awesome movie. I also like playing my Wii and frolicking with my cell phone – Sprint Windows Mobile HTC Touch Pro 2 in my spare time.

Computers and technology are my calling. I like computer hardware, macs to be specific, just as much as I like software. I use a early 2008 Mac Pro (10gb RAM, 2x quad intels) at work and a msi wind (hackbook nano) at home. I am in the process of building a hack pro core i7 and will post that when finished. Otherwise, I just keep up with the latest tech news from sites like Cnet, Engadget, Infosyncworld, et. all.

I went to Salisbury University and got a BS in Information Systems. I then got an awesome internship with Webs.com and got on the right track with my career. I was professionally introduced to the life-changing Cascading Style Sheets. I now work for Just Health Shops designing and marking up the 10+ stores they currently run. It is exciting working for a company that is growing so rapidly.

My strongest technical abilities come with xhtml, css, and adobe photoshop. The three best tools for any front end developer. I leveraged these skills to design this site.

about this site

This site was made with the magical wordpress. I was able to take advantage of all the great wordpress plugins to mashup all of my social sites to create something like a personal web 2.0 site. I then skinned this site by first drawing out the site on paper (I suck at drawing btw). Next, I mocked the site up using photoshop. I found many cool photoshop brushes out in the internets and i was on my way. Finally it was on to the best part – the CSS. I optimized this site for 1024×768 minimum resolution. I think it degrades semi-gracefully with old legacy browsers. This excludes ie6 though; this site uses 24bit png extensively. I also use many css3 techniques on this site – including rgba and text-shadow properties. These won’t be seen in any version of internet explorer, but will work with modern browsers. All in all the site took about 5 weeks of on and off development time to complete.

purpose

The purpose of this site is to make it as maintainence free as possible. This is called a “social home” for a reason; I grab all my social resources and feed them all in one place. Any time I update my twitter, delicious, or facebook – you will know about it. This happens on a daily basis and leaves me to use the wordpress dashboard only when I want to make a blog post. I rarely, if ever, have to go into the markup. This leaves you with a daily updated feed that is as maintinence free as I can possibly make it. It’s a Win, Win. Enjoy.
